I think our son may have ADD or ADHD? What are the signs? Should I take him to the doctor or call an association? Help!

You need to talk to your son's doctor. He/She would be the one to refer you. Do you have a pediatrician or just a family doctor? A pediatrician would be better. Let us know what happens.

Make an appointment with your family doctor. They will refer you to a paeds if need be, there are a ton of things that could and should be ruled out first before jumping into the lap of a paeds.

Get a couple of opinions, too. Too many "health care" providers want to start kids on medication, when you could start with the diet, nutritional  and other areas first. My 2-cents

Look for other possibilities too like sensory processing disorder which can look a lot like ADHD. My daughter who was predisposed to a lot as a result of her prenatal circumstances and the history of her biological parents has benefitted from a few things: we removed sodium benzoate from her diet as much as possible (this was proven in a British study to have made kids more hyper) Also we increased fish oils from about 15 months on until today she gets a teaspoon of Omega 3 fish oils a day. (It has been proven to help and even if it didn't it doesn't hurt.) Also we try to limit TV (try I stress, cause it doesn't always work.) No TV after dinner and we run her little athletic self until she almost drops. Swimming, Gymnastics, martial arts X 3 nights a week.)

Also get some assessments done and see if you might benefit from an Occupational therapist. Just some thoughts.
