Hi. So, my husband snores like crazy. He is REALLY bad and I can't stand the sound. We go to bed together (and yes, have sex) and then fall asleep. Or, I should say, HE falls asleep and I lay there listening to the snoring. So, I get up and change rooms. I get a much better sleep.

Personally, I think this is a fine situation, but friends seem to think that it will lead to a bad marriage. We have only been married for just over a year. I think it is better that I get a good night's sleep so I am not cranky.

Thoughts??

I can see where you're coming from....snoring is the most annoying sound when you're trying to sleep....except for a dripping tap. I can also see where your friends are coming from. Marriage just isn't about the sex....its rolling over in the middle of the night and touching your husband and snuggling into him. To me...that closeness is just as important as the sex. Have you talked to him about going to the Dr and seeing about what can be done about his snoring. Maybe try those Breath Right strips.

Yeah, he has been to the doc and we have tried the breath strips. But, nothing works.

On the weekends, I will even jump back into bed with him so we can do some snuggling and chat in the mornings.

All of this seems to work for me...but the negative feedback is making me think about the whole situation.

Your husband may have sleep apnea. A very serious condidtion that needs to be treated by a doc. My DH has it and he actually will stop breathing in the night, as his throat collapses his airways get cut off, he will still look like he is breathing but no air is getting in. Once his body realizes this it wakes up enough that his throat opens again and in doing so makes a huge loud snore. I can't sleep with him either like that. He has a cpac machine which is a mask over his nose that forces air into his throat which keeps it open if he stops breathing. The machine works really well so that DH get enough sleep since without it he he constantly being woken up and is tired in the morning and is quiet enough that I can sleep normally beside him. Without it I wouldn't be sleeping beside hime either.

I don't think that your marriage is at risk because you end up in a different room. Providing your DH is ok with it. I strongly urge you to take him to the doc  though as you don't need to be sleeping in another room. He will need to have a sleep test done to know if it really is sleep apnea and if your doc won't give a refferal, go to a different doc.
