| I just have a question to throw out there. I have a 7 month old son who is eating all kinds of solids now. It's going fairly well although he prefers nursing to eating. Does anyone know if I should nurse and then feed him real food or feed him food then nurse or try to separate the two all together? I asked my doctor but he wasn't very helpful. I'm not too concerned as he is very happy and healthy but it would be nice to know. I do not want to sacrifice my milk supply because I plan on nursing for at least a few more months.

| I followed a food chart in a book and it recommends that you breastfeed for example in the early morning and then offer solids for their breakfast.

| http://wholesomebabyfood.com/ This is a great site that has info not only on making baby food, but menus and info on when to introduce foods.

| i would stagger them about 1.5 hours apart. For example - if he is having 2 naps, then this would be an approximate schedule: awake - breakfast - cereal/fruit 10:30 - prenap snack - BF 12-ish - lunch - baby food/solids 2-3 ish - pre nap snack - BF 5-6 ish - supper - baby foods/solids - maybe nurse pre-bed - BF, and maybe cereal hope this helps - this was my sons schedule

| At that age I would always nurse Kalli after solids to top her up that way she was getting hydration and I knew she was full afterwards. Kalli is now 9 months and is on finger foods so I know when she is done as she starts feeding the dog or playing with her food. Then I just nurse in between feeds as little snacks. I can tell when she wants to nurse by giving cues. Crawling up my pant leg attacking me with an open mouth pulling at my shirt etc. Your baby will tell you when they want to nurse. good luck
