She also fights us before bed (as in will cry and cry and cry until we give up). This happens every night and it's beginning to get more and more frustrating.

Also, since day one, she has not yet slept through the night and now she's teething and her schedule is all over the place!

I really need some help....anyone? He sleeps with one eye open and very lightly (wakes up easily).

This is new to me. From 4 weeks to 2 1/2 months he slept 6-8 hours straight, in his crib, in his own room, then would eat and sleep for another 3. And nothing could wake him.

All of a sudden he started waking every 30 minutes to 2 hours at night and it takes him forever to fall asleep. Even when he is asleep he has one eye partially open.

Nothing in our lives or his routine has changed.

If I keep him in bed with me he dozes on and off and does not fuss. He will fall asleep on his own and is content (but still only sleeps a couple hours at a time).

If I put him in his crib he wakes up every hour and it takes close to an hour to get him back to sleep in his crib.

Letting him CIO does not work.
Putting something that smells like me with him does not work.
Everything I have read about doesn't work.

Has never napped during the day (except for 30 min. intervals).

Those who say make him nap twice a day for a few hours don't know my son. He just does not sleep. There is no way to make him.

Otherwise he is doing fine. He wakes up smiling all the time. HE is developing at a normal rate and growing well. So I am not worried about his wellbeing.

Since he stopped sleeping through the night he has slept for 7 hours straight twice.

I would just like some advice. Anyone ever had or heard of a similar situation? I have no idea why he sleeps with one eye open or how to get him to sleep for longer periods.

I would prefer him in his own crib but usually give up after 3-4 hours of getting up every hour.

This post is much too long so I appreciate anyone who reads it and/or responds to it.

getting breastfed baby to take a bottle

we can't seem to get my 3month old to take a bottle, any bottle. she out right refuses it. even when its my milk. we have tried every brand of nipple/bottle and just can't seem to find one she'll take. i really would like to find a remedy for this as i can't leave her with anyone for any length of time. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sleeping through the night

Our 6 1/2 month still doesn't sleep through the night. My baby girl is 6 weeks old and she is breastfed. Last week, during one very difficult night, she would not take my breast, so I pumped some milk and had my mother, who was visiting, feed her with a bottle. Feeding continued normally for almost a week, then the same thing happened. Now it's been 3 times in the last 48 hours, and breastfeeding has become very difficult. She screams as soon as I approach my breast from her mouth. Sometimes I can get her to calm down and take it, sometimes it just doesn't work. I don't know what to do. I feel like she has decided that she likes the bottle better then my breast. I never intended to switch her to bottle feeding this soon and I can't pump all day long so that she continues to get breastmilk this way. I am thinking if this continues I may have to switch her to formula... Has anyone else ever had this problem?

Thanks!

Congrats my little baby

My baby's first teeth appeared last week, he was six months and three weeks, three days later his second one popped through

soother

My son has never been fond of his soother he basically only wants it about 1 minute before he falls asleep otherwise he could care less about it. My bb boy is 11 months old. I bought a playard last yr, first the bb only slept on the top layer, and I started let him play on the bottom layer since Dec. However, I thought the bottom is not very stable. Then later the side fabic/stitches was broken, damaged on Feb. At first, it was only 2 inches hole, and it is getting bigger everyday. He always put his fingers out, and now he almost can put his leg! And one day I saw him eating the fabic! Scared me!
I tried to go bk to Toyrus and get the return/refund, and they said the product was discountinued! And I called the manufactory, the also said I bought it over 6 months, they can do nothing! Could someone tell me what to do now? Of course, I don't use these thing anymore! I am seeking some advice on introducing solids. I have a 5 month old who is now 16 lbs. He does about 35 ounces of breast milk a day and eats about every 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. At night he still awakes at least one time to eat, sometimes more times. At about 3 1/2 months I introduced rice cereal. My son liked it at first and ate it eagerly then all of a sudden he was not interested anymore. I switched to oatmeal and he still is not too interested in eating. He does not like the spoon it seems. Does anyone have this experience, baby liking solids then turning off them? If so, what did you do? Should I just keep trying with the solids? The days that he does eat the oatmeal, he sleeps A LOT longer at night time.

Yellow in spit-up??

My DS is 8 weeks old - today after he drank a bottle of formula he spit up - nothing unusual right? He thinks nothing of taking our 6 month old daughter outside in her snuggly on a cool, windy, rainy day with nothing more than a touque and her cotton sleeper. He says she is getting the warmth from his chest and that I should stop trying to over dress her. One day I came into the basement and he had Kalli in nothing but a diaper and he was in shorts and a hoody. Our basement is considerably cool and I got mad and told him to put a blanket on her as I myself felt chilly and he said she "is too hot". I get so frustrated and feel like I have to watch over her to make sure she is adequately looked after.

Can anyone give me proper insight as to whether I am overreacting. I have a 6 1/2 month old son named Jensen. He's such a joy, always happy and quite happy to be playing in his exersaucer or on the floor with his toys while I do my housework, or cook.
He goes to bed like a dream at around 7:30 at night. We may have to check on him once or twice before he'll fall asleep. I dream feed him at around 10 before I go to bed, then he doesn't feed again until between 4 and 5:30 in the morning. My problem though is that when he comes out of a deep sleep cycle, if his soother has fallen out of his mouth, or he's rolled to his tummy (and when he's sleeping, hasn't figured out how to get himself back over), he cries for me to fix it. To give him his soother, and/or put him on his back. It has been getting progressively worse, where he'll wake me up 6 or 7 times a night to put his soother in his mouth. He lets me sleep until at least 8 a.m. and I feel fairly rested for the day, but I need help figuring out how to get him to soothe himself back to sleep when I'm still half a sleep! I was really looking forward to being home everyday with my baby but it could be a lond winter.

Cranky baby,especially at night!

Hello!

Does anybody know how long it is,until a baby quits crying almost every night??

The dr says it is normal, and that "they"don't know what causes infants to cry alot especially at night!

I would like some info!

USER: Lora 1977

My daughter:Kylee

born January 18/06

Help! I'm at my wit's end!!

My 5 week old seem to have a major aversion to sleeping...it seems all he wants to do is eat...and eat, and eat, and he seems to never be satisfied. I actually started supplementing the breast feeding with formula, because he would empty my breasts and still want more...sometimes he feeds for so long, feeds just run into each other...and he won't nap!!

Yesterday for example..he woke up at 8:30 and didn't go back to sleep until about 7:30 p.m...he fell asleep a couple of times during the day, but then jolted awake...he does this all the time!

He does suffer from gas problems and we have tried everything to help him in that regard as well, but to no avail.

I'm going crazy! I"m exhausted, frustrated...etc. I know it's not his fault, but I feel like it is, and that makes me feel horrible.

I'm venting here...because I just don't know what to do anymore. I've tried the shush pat method...sitting and rocking..we walk him around the house...we take him for car rides (he does sleep in the car, but yesterday even that didn't work)...right now, he is in his bassinet, and I have the radio on a fuzzy channel...he is quiet, but who knows how long it will last. I'm worried about getting him into bad habits, but at this point, we are trying everything we can...

Live Chatting

I am curious whether or not their is any live chatting on this site? I'd love to do a couple of quick 10-minute phone interviews with parents who worry about the toy recalls we keep hearing about. Especially those who have found and thrown out toys covered in lead paint. Or parents who have concerns about lead poisoning in general (lead can be in old homes, water etc.). Maybe you've done renovations lately and worry about the dust? Or maybe your own child has been diagnosed with lead poisoning. Luckily, this is very rare though.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

If you're interested in talking to me, feel free to drop me a line at: kira@vermond.ca or at 1-877-826-9883 and we’ll set up a time to talk.

Thanks!

dry skin

My baby girl of 8 months, has very dry skin ONLY on her cheeks. It all started on Halloween night. SHe was minnie mouse and we drew black wiskers on her face with halloween paint and I washed it off with Huggies baby wash. THe next day her cheeks were a little rosey but I didn't pay much attention because I thought it was from the gentle scrubbing. Well ever since then, she's had dry rough patches on her cheeks. No where else. her entire body is baby soft accept those cheeks. I was very worried it was eczema. so I called the capital health nurse and she said it may have been a reaction to the wash, and I should not use any type of lotion because it sounds like her skin is just overly sensitive. So fine I left it alone. well its been 3 months later and she still has very dry patches on both cheeks. I've used Johnson and Johnson Baby Lotion, Teeny Faces by Gerber, even just plain old vaseline, and nothing helps.

Can anyone give me any suggestions what I should do or use. Thanks.

How old was your baby when they could sit-up alone?

Hi there!! I have a 6.5 month old who still isn't sleeping thru the night. We have a night time routine..naked time, bath, eat bedtime. 9 times out of 10 he falls asleep while nursing. But by the time midnight rolls around he's up. I try not to pick him up but he just gets more and more upset. He gets so upset that he starts coughing and choking so I pick him up and sometimes I will nurse and sometimes not...doesn't seem to matter though because he's up again in a couple of hours. The same goes for nap time. If he doesn't fall asleep nursing then he just won't go down. We have switched from breast feeding to bottle due to difficulties with a thrush infection (which is still persisting) and I believe some of the issues arise from that. However, she has had periods of time where the infection has been cleared up and still presented with major feeding issues. Basically, she starts sucking on the bottle and takes a couple good gulps but then all of a sudden pulls her head to the side (sort of buries is it my arm) and begins crying uncontrollably. She then refuse to retake the bottle and consequently, ends up only drinking 1 - 2 ounces at a feeding. At this point she is still gaining weight and therefore our doctors have basically been dismissing our concerns and telling us she'll grow out of it. I have experimented with different feeding positions, different bottles/nipples and even different brands of formula with very little change to our problem. Has anyone ever had this type of problem or have a different thought on what we could try? I've done much research on colic, etc. and don't feel that our baby fits into that category. Her main issues seem to arise from feeding time and as a result she is hungry and very cranky before during and after every feeding.
