What a great source of Canadian information! It's SO hard to find information that comes from Canada!

Anyway, just so you can get to know me a bit, I'll be 31 next month, happily married and this is our first. I work full time in a job I love and I live on the East Coast. This is the first child in its generation on my side of the family, and we know we're having a boy. I have been pretty sick since the get go and am still nauseous and throwing up some days. I have gained only about 3 pounds and I'm normal weight to begin with (not overweight, not underweight). I was taking Dilclectin (12 a day!) but it did nothing for me.

I am now starting to think about my options for maternity leave...do I take the 50 weeks? Go back part time after a few months? I don't know. I know that on EI I'll be making less than half my income (I make in the mid 40's, which I know sounds like a good amount but you know how it is, mortgage, car etc). I'm wondering if there are any ladies out there who have gone back earlier than 50 weeks or tried working from home and what their experiences have been? I'd like to put together some kind of proposal to take to my boss in the next little while around what my plans are.

Thanks all, and I'm excited to get to know you!

Hugs and Healthy babies!

Ella

New blog - Top 10 Things for New Moms - Part Deux

Check it out. I guess after knowing what it feels like and how it makes things "better and real" With my first son it was 18-19 weeks. I'm already showing and already in maternity clothes, some of the books I have say it can happen as early as 14 weeks with the second baby. We've already seen the baby and have an amazing 4D picture, but I want to feel him/her move!!!

Can anyone relate? I was wondering what everyone thought of having a baby shower before the baby is born? My cousin and aunts are planning a shower for me in November and I will be 6mths then which is very sweet of them. They thought having it before Christmas was a good idea and I'll be "too big" in Jan. as I'm due first week in February. A woman at work commented to me that it is "bad luck" to have the shower before the baby....I think it is a preference. I have been healthy up until this point and my family would support me if something "tragic" happened. Today I went to the hospital to find out if I was pregnant. I feel very different from what I used to. I had a uring test and it came back negative. I got my mentrual cycle at the hospital, but it is very unusual compared to what it normally is. It is light and usually it is heavy. I also had some pink/brown almost tissue like discharge I guess you would call it. I am still feeling the same and can't figure it out. I heard that some people have had negative uring results, but when they got a blood test it came back positive. If anyone could give me some advice or is could help me figure this out it would be much appreciated as I am on medications that could be harmful if I am indeed pregnant. Thank you for your time.

Liquid or Chewable Pre-Natal

Hi Everyone,
I have a hard time swallowing pills and so I'm looking for either liquid or chewable prenatal vitamins. But this pregnancy is sooo much different then my last one. I am exhausted, cranky all the time and I have absolutely no patience. My son is 2 1/2 and he is wonderful, bright and funny. But in the last 2-3 weeks, all I've done is get angry or frustrated at him. I know it's not fair to him but I just have no patience. I have found myself raising my voice or giving him a time out for things that aren't a big deal. I'm sure that it is the surrounding circumstances that are having an impact as well (new job- 2 weeks days then 2 weeks evenings until 11pm, don't get to sleep till after midnight etc...) I was looking forward to having the evening shift so I could stay home with him during the day and see him. But I am finding myself miserable with him at home with me. I have no extra energy to do anything with him. and have resorted to putting him into day care when I don't really "need" to so I can get rest during the day before my shift at 3. sigh, I feel like a crappy mum, who feels horrible because I just don't have the energy to do anything with my son. Never mind the guilt I feel towards both him and my husband. I am new but not pregnant (yet). My husband and I are just newlywed and are waiting before we even try but we are coming at a cross roads over finding out the sex of the baby before it's born. I am a total planner and do not like surprises...

So what do you women think... I want to find out the sex before hand but my husband doesn't. Can this work? Can I know and he doesn't? Also I am getting a LOT of slack from family members because I want to know... they say it's all about the surprise about not about knowing beforehand. How have others dealt with that? Should I just not find out and share this moment with my husband or what? I am so confused!!! I'm really hoping there might be someone out there who might be able to shed some light for me. Here's the scoop...
My partner and I have been trying to conceive for a few months, and I just found out I was pregnant last week. I did the test on the day my period was due because I suspected I was pregnant; I'm usually like clockwork... I know what minute of what hour of what day to be in the bathroom to expect the monthly visit. The home test was positive. I went to my doctor the next day for a test. The urine test was negative, but the blood test was positive. My doctor indicated that due to the low levels of hormone detected in the test I was probably in my first or second week. I've been doing some reading via the internet and on many sites it indicates if you have missed an expected period you are pregnant and in your fourth week... so now I'm confused. If the first day of my last cycle was August 22, and I was supposed to ovulate the week of September 3 - 7, and found out I was pregnant on September 19 (the day I was due for my cycle), then where am I in terms of weeks? Which is it, the second, third or fourth week as today's date?

I'm seeing my doctor the week after Thanksgiving for my first visit, but want to put my mind at rest until then. If there is anyone out there that may be able to shed some light, I would really appreciate it.

Signed Confused but incredibly excited!

Tetralogy of Fallot

Hi, I am 8 months pregnant and my son will be born with a congenital heart defect called tetralogy of fallot. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Also, has anyone ever been turned down for a job, because they were pregnant? I know this is pregnancy discrimination and I've already been on the phone to the proper sources about it, but they say there's not all that much they can do. On one hand, I'm wondering why the law makes such a big deal out of it, because maybe they're doing me a favor by not hiring me, incase my water does break at work. But, on the other hand, what about those people that don't have very much money and desperately need a job, even though they're six months pregnant? I suppose, they could always get welfare to pay their rent, but once they're on their own, it's not like they can go back to the situation they were in before. So, say, I just needed to save $2,000 while pregnant, in order to take the baby with me after it's born, while in pursuit of stardom in and around Hollywood... Should I go for the job that doesn't discriminate and just pray my water will break while I'm at home?

C-SECTION

first of all HELLO to you alli am new to this site.yesterday the doctor told me that i ll be having a C SECTION in oct .so i am just scared cause this is going to be my first time ,so anyone here who had a C-SECTION before.how was your experience ??is it very painful

New !!! Also i have just finished school and was hoping to start into my new field of work but am worried nobody will hire me because i am pregnant. we are a young couple i am 21 he is 23, we are constantly being judge by our age, we dont party, we are responsible and hard working, he has been in the same feild of work for 5 years and i have just finished school, we just bought a car and are hopinh to buy a house within 6 months. so many people tell us that we are too young and dont think people our age are capable of having a good marriage. we are very in love and have a very good relationship. our families are vey supportive, i dont know why i care so much what other people think when i should only care about the people important to us think which they all know we ar ment for eachother. i just hate going to the doctor or out anywhere pregnant and hav epeople give us judging looks. I am wondering if anyone have advice on dealing with the stress of movin , being judged and being a younger parent, i find it difficult to meet friends because alot of people our age just want to party we would like to meet couples with children but it is hard especially now we are moving to a new province, as well as dealing with pregnancy and already having a baby.

moms to be niagara???

Hey everybody looking for some moms to be in niagara region
Im in St.Catharines
It would be nice to meet some people goign through the same things and
having kids around the same age
Send me a msg

Thisismine30@hotmail.com
On facebook as well

Prenatal Pilates in Toronto

Does anyone know of a good yet inexpensive prenatal Pilates course in Toronto? I have done pregnancy tests before, and none of them have ever been positing. I know there was one day when we had a condom break (I am not on birth control, as I am allergic). I have done 4 different pregnancy tests all of which have shown the positive line (just very faintly, but it is there). I went to the doctor and their test was the same - he told me he couldn't tell whether I was pregnant or not, because the line was faint it could just be too wet or something. He gave me a pee cup and told me to bring it back again in a week. Anyways, I waited another 3 days and did another home pregnancy test and this time the positive line was definately there and darker - not as dark as the normal line that is always there whether you are pregnant or not, but it really showed this time. It has been 40 days since my last period and I know that I am pregnant. Anyways, I have filled out the online due date calculators with the date of conception and they keep telling me that I am 4 weeks, when I know that I am 2 1/2. Is there a different way of calculating this? Some of them say that I am 16 days or 4 weeks. I know that 16 days is not 4 weeks. My date of conception was June 23rd?
