Since I posted my question, my little guy hasn't bitten me, but I will definitely try that if and when he does again!!

RE: How to stop biting?

I breastfed both my boys (and will #3 as well)...only my oldest bit me....ONCE! I think I screamed so loud that that was all it took....! He had teeth at the time, so it really hurt. I agree with the previous poster, this technique has worked with my friends! Good luck!

RE: How to stop biting?

From what I have read, and experienced myself, this is what has worked: as soon as they bite take them off the breast, look them in the eye and say "No biting". Then put them back on. If they bite again say "Mom said no biting" and take them away, no more feeding. If they fuss after a couple minutes put them back on to feed. If the biting continues end the feeding. They learn quickly that bite means no food, and that is not an option for long. They won't starve if one or two feedings are shorter, the make up for it next time.

How to stop biting?

I have an almost 6 month old son who has not started teething yet. Recently he has started biting me as I am nursing him. I have tried to push his head into my breast to force his mouth open and I have also tried gently flicking his cheek; neither has made a difference. Does anyone has a suggestion for what I can do? It isn't bad now but I would like to remedy this before he gets teeth!!
