I am sure when they are old enough to choose they will go a totaly differnt way.

And I am a self admitted shop-o-holic

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

I buy a little bit of everything for Danica (Katelyn gets all hand me downs for now), but I do find that the brand name stuff seems to last longer and fit better. That's something that will depend on each child, but the stuff from Zellers/Wal Mart often is ok around the waist, but too long. Or the shirts fit ok around the torso, but the sleeves are too short. Shopping consignment is good too, but I'm finding it harder now that Danica is bigger. I guess cause they wear stuff for longer and it gets stained and worn out more.

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

i don't think i'll be buying brand name stuff once my baby is born but when i get hand-me-downs the only things i tend to keep are the brand names as they are the only ones that don't look used and raggedy. you have to admit many brand name clothes are better quality and tend to last longer than Walmart or Zellers brand... if you plan on using them for just one kid they are great otherwise they're kind of icky..IMO

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

Our shopping options are very limited (like, to Wal-mart and Cdn Wholesale Club). We don't have a second-hand clothing store either. So, if we get a gift, we wear it on the kids. But even if labels were available locally, I couldn't justify paying for them. I don't for myself, either. The budget doesn't allow for it...but even if it did, I still wouldn't, just on principle!

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

Most of Alex's clothes comes from Wal-Mart or Zellers. She goes through shirts so fast that it's really not worth spending $18 on a t-shirt I could get for $3 at Zellers.

I will sometimes buy Old Navy if it is on sale. I think the only Gap clothes she has was a gift, and when I used a gift card. I don't go out intentionally to buy something at the Gap for her.

Sears is another good place for her clothes.

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

I can't really justify spending too much on DD's clothes - I'm not a big name-brand junkie anyway.

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

I will for sure have to check out Frenchie's the next time I'm in Moncton! Good idea re: call first to find out when they're getting new stock in. Thanks for the tip! I can never pass up a bargain!

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

We find the old gap clothing at the second hand kids store in our town and they sell them from anywhere from $1 to $10 so we do not mind paying that much for some good clothes.

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

Yes there is a Frenchies in Moncton and it is great... if you get a chance to visit, call and find out when they put out their new stuff... i think they put out more a certain day of the week...because people (i know a ton of them) are there every week and pick and pick. find great stuff, but you have to know when to go...at least at that location!!

When I buy stuff it is from Childrens place, my DD hasn't had many clothes bought for her by me, so i buy what i like...

My mom does the same, we don't worry about the label so much as the outfit itself... She is still wearing some of her 0-3 and she is 6 months old... so she keeps her clothes a lot longer than most!

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

We are lucky that a friend of mine gives me clothes from her daughter 4 months older and my aunt has 2 girls born in the same month who are 4yrs and 2yrs so we have boxes of clothes up to size 3 right now.

Mostly we buy her clothes second hand (and alot of them are actually new) and if we find a good deal we buy sale items, but nothing has been big name brand, but we buy from Walmart, Zellers and Superstore as long as it's on sale. But we really don't have to buy her alot of stuff, and now I have another friend whose little girl is 6 weeks so I pass alot of stuff down to her (but keep some in case we have another girl in the future).

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

violet1amythest (4/16/2006)
I buy labels for the kids and get them as gifts or hand me downs from other moms I know. BUT the big difference with the labels we have is that they come from a great store called FRENCHY'S. Those clothes that you take back to stores or get a little dirty from falling off the rack are sold to stores like that. Most of the stuff looks new, some has tags still on it even. And the best part is that I can get things like Calvin Klein, Gap, Gymboree, Childrens Place for 25cents-$3. Sadly this store is only in the maritimes. One good thing about being here at least.

Wow! This sounds like a great store. Do they have a website? I think there's one in Moncton NB where my Grandmother lives-I'll have to pay a visit next time I'm visiting her.

I just love getting sales!! I've also recently found lots of great deals on labels on ebay. Dear Daddy is so proud of my thrifty shopping-but thank goodness he also doesn't mind when I buy at regular price too.

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

I buy labels for the kids and get them as gifts or hand me downs from other moms I know. She has Gap jeans, but I paid $8.50 for them. Oh, and I got her a pair of Calvin Klien pants at OUAC for $8.50 too!

We had a few gift certificates to the "Labels" stores so we definatly took advantage of that! Also if there is a special occation and I find an outfit I like at a labels store, then I'll get it for her.

RE: Do you dress your kids in labels?

I buy labels only if it's on sale or I got it as a gift.I have to admit if I fall in love with one piece I'll probably buy it...some clothes are just too cute especially on our little one!

Do you dress your kids in labels?

I'm just curious! Our boys are usually dressed in labels-unless it's playtime at Grandma's or they're going to get really messy. I love to get them all dressed up in their nice clothes! I think some of the times they're better dressed than I am. When I first met FH it used to drive me crazy that he spent so much $ on their clothes-but we decided to be consistent with what they wear when they're with their mom (it's 50-50 custody) and consistent with what they were already used to. I love getting the sales-Gap has them all the time. FH and I love lining up on Boxing day-and I've always got my eye out for bargains.
