Hey,

I need help with girl names.  So far all I have is Scarlett and Elizabeth, although my mother hates Elizabeth.  If she had her way she woulod name the baby Olivia or Veronica.  My partner is in Iraq, so I don't have any feedback from him.  I'm due in September! Any suggestions?

k.

Hi!  I love the name Elizabeth and was thinking of that name for my baby but my step-daughter's middle name is Elizabeth (named after my husband's mother) so I didn't want to take that from her (she is quite proud of being named after her grandmother).  I also like the nickname Beth but I wouldn't want Elizabeth to be shortened to Betty or Betsy (something that could happen whether you want it to or not).

I'm not too keen on Scarlett because it makes me think of the actress (very hollywood).

Olivia is really popular now so I try to stay away from the popular names (my name is Heather and growing up there were always at least 2 other Heather's in the class - really annoying).

I really like Veronica - very different.

But that's just my 2 cents!  Pick a name that you really like - don't worry about what your mother thinks.  I didn't tell anyone what names we were thinking about cause I knew that there would be some people who would hate them and would try to change my mind.
