I'm the mother of a four year old daughter and I'm pregnant.  I just recently separated from my husband of four years.  The seperation was mutual, we were both miserable.  We tried councelling a few times, it helped for awhile, but didn't work out.  It's only been a week, but I'm certain it's over.  I'm in shock right now and my future and my children's future is uncertain.  I have never lived independently from my family or my husband and I'm doubting if I can do it alone.  What I'm wondering is how do I cope and get through this period of grief and loss? and How do you single parent's out there do it?

I don't have any suggestions as I have not been in that situation but just wanted to say Sorry to hear your situation.

Hi there I am new here, but know exactly what u r going thru right now. I have 3 children from my marriage which ended about 2 and a half years ago. There are alot of programs out there for single mothers as well as subsitty for daycare if needed. I never dreamed i would survive on my own but i have! I found that it was really important to surround yourself with family and friends, people you can talk to. That is the key right now talk, whatever is going through your mind get it all out, not healthy keeping it in. You may fell like u will never get through this ( I now i felt this way) but you will it just takes time I found out a month ago that I am pregnant again, and today was told that my boyfriend (the babies father ) is moving out of town. The first thing I did was pick up the phone and talked to a friend, it really does help. Just remember baby steps and you will get there, Keep Smiling!
